Abstract Seascape, Daily Painting, "Tropical Blues" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

Living close to the sea, I find it turns up in my painting in both a representative and non-representative form.  I guess this little daily painting falls somewhere between the two.

I painted this with a palette knife.  I like texture and feel it adds additional interest to my art.  I was thinking about the beautiful greens and blues of the tropical waters off the coast of Florida.  Further south the turn the most amazing shades of azure, but that will be another painting.

I almost always show my paintings in black frames.  It would be hard to find an artwork that would not work well with black and it just makes the colors pop.

Start planning that tropical vacation today!

Don't forget to pin it on your vacation board.

Small Seascape, Ocean Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Sunrise", 6x8 Oil, SOLD

Although I do not live on the beach, I am very close, so it is easy to jump in my car with a cup of coffee and a camera.  That is just what I did on this morning.

SOLD

It is my favorite time of day at the beach.  Very few people, maybe an occasional fisherman, just me and the surf and the birds.  The surf is usually quiet, as though it is still sleeping too, and the birds are very busy, running around looking for breakfast.

Of course, when the sun finally breaks over the horizon, it is glorious.

I hope that you will remember this post on your next vacation to the sea, and you will take the opportunity to share a very special moment with nature.  I know you will not regret it!

News from Carol Schiff Studio!

Hello all!  It has been very busy here at Carol Schiff Studio and I have some exciting news to share with you.

I have recently opened a site on a wonderful handmade marketplace called GoImagine.com.  What makes this site different, is that they donate 100% of their profits to needy children.  No billionaire CEO's or stockholders to pay off, just maker's selling their products.

My expenses are much lower on this site, and I am passing that on to my buyer's with lower prices.  Everybody wins!

I hope you will stop bye for a visit:  https://goimagine.com/carols-original-painting/.  I add new listings daily.

I created this small seascape from my memories of the beautiful beaches that surround us here in the state of Florida.

I painted with a brush and pallet knife to show texture in the waves rushing to shore and the sea oats rising above the protective dunes.

I had the urge to experiment with a seascape painting.  In the past, I painted lots of seascapes, but have done nothing recently.  I decided to zoom in on one wave and try painting.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Small Seascape, "Celebrating Blue" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil SOLD

I worked this small seascape with a knife, trying to mimic the action of the waves with my strokes.

SOLD
I usually work from images on my computer, but this time the image was in my head.  I tried to fill the canvas with shades of blues and greens, and also to suggest a little of the beach.

MY PRINTS
I feel I captured the spirit of the waves rushing to shore, and I must say, it was a most enjoyable experience.  I plan to try this technique again.
